Your Inner Child Empty Your Inner Child

We're all grown-ups here, right? Hmmmm. It's kinda hard to tell some times, ain't it? We like to act like kids, have fun, be silly and laugh. Sure, we accept our adult responsibilities and go to work, pay our bills and raise children...do all the things we are expected to do as big people. And yet there is still that sense of childhood that lingers within each of us. Author John Bradshaw called it the "inner child," i.e. the child within each adult that lives there forever. When an adult becomes in touch with his or her inner child, Bradshaw calls it a "Homecoming."

My question this week for the show is: as an adult, what have you held on to from your childhood in order to keep that sense of your own youth? It could be something physical like a teddy bear or a pair of size one shoes that you have held onto or it could be a feeling or an idea that continues to sustain you through adulthood. Also, do you remember the exact moment you felt like an adult? Was there a time in your life you felt you had "come-of-age?" What prompted that feeling?

NOTE: April 23, 2008. Remember that next week's show, along with Deedeess's show will be our annual UK Nova Radio April Sing-Off. The theme will be "gender switch." If you are a man you will sing a "lady song" and if you are a lady you will sing a "man song." You can record these and send them to me or Deedss as you normally would or you can plan on being in the IRC and singing LIVE the night of the show. Please remember that while talent in the sing off is greatly appreciated...it is not mandatory! Look for further notices about this favorite event in the next week.
