Your first Barbra album ever??

What was the first Barbra album you ever received or bought?
For me it was the 2000 Timeless Live in Concert album.

It was the same for me, Chris! I played with the idea for about a month.. passing through it and looking at it at the store, until finally on New Year's Eve, I bought it.

My first album was Higher Ground....It was right after she was on Rosie for the first time.

When she sang I was damn she's good! I was hooked on her singing ever since.

Live Concert at the Forum I was about 10 or 11 years old and we were at an out-of-town mall. I remember opening it in the back seat of the car and reading the liner notes on the trip home.

This remains my favorite live recording because of the tightness of the set, the inclusion of the Eddie Kendrix singers doing back-up and the urgency of Peter Matz's arangements of the songs.

The first Barbra Album I bought was the Yentl soundtrack LP back in 1983 right after I went to see the film in the theater. I just couldn't wait to hear the soundtrack again and again..... The music of Michel Legrand, the Lyrics of the Bergmans and Barbra's voice were so powerful & magic together that I couldn't stop listening to it and made everyone around me crazy (love that one )

The first album we had at home was Guilty, but my first, only mine nobody else touching it Barbra album was Guilty Pleasures!

The very first album I bought was A Collection : Greatest Hits ... and More when it came out.

I got my first two Streisand albums for my birthday (I turned 10 then) and it was "A collection: Greatest Hits...and more" and "The Way We Were".
The first album I bought on my own, was "Duets".

The first time I bought Barbra music I bought two albums.

They were: Barbra: The Concert and
Funny Girl (1964 Original Broadway Cast)

My first album has been The Concert 1994... and it still is on the top of my list. A masterpiece.

The first Barbra cd I ever got was "A collection: Greatest Hits...and more", which was a gift from my father..

But a before that I had bought the Guilty LP (that was even before I really discovered Barbra!)

mine was the soundtrack to Hello, Dolly! It was gift...a wonderful wonderul gift!!!

I notice how many of us bought concert albums for our first purchase. Even A Star is Born is heavy on concert material. Isn't it odd, considering that Barbra did so few concerts during those years (1967-1990?) Furthermore, she often said she preferred working in the studio because she wanted to "get it right." I guess we all saw it differently than she did. From the beginning I always thought she shined in concert above everything else she did. By my estimation, the greatest live performer ever!

Steve, that was a very interesting point you bring up about the Concert albums. In my case it was a pure coincidence, since somebody happened to give my dad a copy of Timeless. I know others actually chose the album though
